Churches can reopen on Sunday, up to 25% capacity
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said churches, mosques and places of worship can reopen on Sunday, at up to 25 percent capacity with social distancing protocols in place.
The governor made the announcement today. Houses of worship had been limited to no more than 10 people.
The governor said encouraging health data in the state’s fight against Covid-19 made him feel comfortable with the announcement.
Friday was a record low of Covid-19 deaths in the state at 35 since the state put in restrictions in mid-March to slow the spread.
The governor’s announcement includes seven of the state’s 10 regions where are in Phase 2 of the reopening. That includes the Finger Lakes Region that comprises Orleans and eight other counties.
The other regions in Phase 2 include Western New York, the Capital Region, Central New York, the Mohawk Valley, the North Country and the Southern Tier.
