Staff Reports Posted 21 September 2017 at 8:04 pm

ALBION – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department will hold a child car seat check point on Saturday at the Dollar Tree, 330 West Avenue.

The seat check will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is part of  National Child Passenger Safety Week from Sept. 17 to 23.

Each year there is a week set aside to bring attention to child passenger safety. According to data, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ranging from 1 to 13 years of age.

Preventative measures, such as proper installation of car seats, boosters and seat belts can lower many deaths and injuries. Informing and instructing parents and caregivers on child safety and proper installation of car seats is critical to saving young lives.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office will have certified child passenger safety technicians available to inspect that children are in the correct seat for their size and age. If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Jeffrey Cole at 585-590-4142 or Jeffrey.Cole@orleanscountyny.gov.
