Channel Cats post key win over Seahorses

Taking over sole possession of first place two-time defending champion Roy-Hart downed visiting Medina 89-81 in a key Niagara-Orleans League boys swim meet this afternoon.

Roy-Hart improves to 4-0 and Medina slips to 3-1.

Sean Labiak was a double winner in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle for Roy-Hart as Charles Rickard took the 200 Free and Zach Livergood the 100 Backstroke.

Livergood and Rickard also teamed up with Max Stern and Andrew Ossont to win the 200 Medley Relay. Rickard and Ossont later combined with James Heideman and Jacob Hagen to win the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Issac Pace won both the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke for Medina as Xander Payne took the 100 Free and Bryson Costich the 100 Butterfly.

Pace and Payne also teamed up with Ben Griffin and Jaxon Phillips to win the 400 Free Relay.

Breaking away from a 47-47 tie, Roy-Hart rattled off three straight wins by Labiak in the 500 Free, by the 200 Free Relay quartet and by Livergood in the Backstroke to regain the lead for good by 12 points at 76-64 with just two events to go.

Roy-Hart also defeated Medina in the girls’ meet 85-55.

Amanda Hill was a double winner in the 200 Free and 100 Backstroke for Roy-Hart as Julia Miles won the Individual Medley, Nadia White the 50 Free, Ava Achtyl the 500 Free and Molly Russell the 100 Breaststroke.

Maddy Satkowski won the 100 Free for Medina.

Roy-Hart is now 2-2 and Medina 1-3.

In another N-O meet Newfane swept Albion winning the boys’ meet 59-34 and the girls’ 52-31.

Roy-Hart’s Amanda Hill in route to a win in the 200 Freestyle. She also won the 100 Backstroke.
