Channel Cats down Seahorses

Taking first place in all 11 events, Roy-Hart bested host Medina 112-58 this evening to clinch at least a tie for an eighth straight Niagara-Orleans League boys swimming championship.

Roy Phipps doubled in the 100 and 200 freestyle events, Nich DiNardo in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke and Lyle Wagner in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke for Roy-Hart which improves to 8-0.

The Channel Cats also got individual event wins from Kyle Shanahan (50 freestyle) and Ray Sack (100 butterfly).

In sweeping the relays Wagner, DiNardo, Sack and Evan Conley combined to win the 200 medley; Phipps, Shanahan, Sack and Ben Werth the 200 free and Wagner, Sack, Phipps and DiNardo the 400 free.

The loss drops Medina to 3-5.

Completing the sweep, the Roy-Hart girls trimmed Medina 89-80 to improve to 6-2.

Alex Hill was a double winner in the individual medley and butterfly and Calee Coleman in the 500 free and 100 backstroke to lead the way for Roy-Hart which also had Courtney VanBuren win the 200 free and Hannah Rausch th 50 free.

VanBuren, Rausch, Hill and Coleman also teamed up to win the meet clinching 400 freestyle relay.

Emma Gardner won the 100 free and Haylee Cogovan the 100 breaststroke for Medina.

Gardner, Max Wright and Sam Wendling also teamed up with Cogovan to win the 200 medley relay and with Emilee Austin to take the 200 free relay.

Newfane sweeps Albion

The Newfane girls clinched at least a tie for a fifth straight N-O title by besting Albion 73-21 to go to 8-0 on the season.

Taking first place in all 11 events, the Lady Panthers had Kiki Dy set a new pool record in the 100 free with a winning time of :57.61. She was also on all three winning relays.

Brianna Gaughran was also on all three winning relays.

Completing the sweep, the Newfane boys downed Albion 78-10 to go to 5-3.

Mitch Dockery won both the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Brandon MacFarlane the 50 and 100 free for the Pathers.

Barker, Akron split

Double wins by Andrew Jenks (200 and 500 free), Casey Webb (50 and 100 free) and Tim Flint (individual medley and breaststroke) lead the Barker boys (6-2) to a 120-30 victory over Akron (0-8).

In the girls meet, Akron (3-5) bested Barker (4-3-1) 102-68.
