Channel Cats clinch N-O swim championships; Purple Eagles sweep; Seahorses split

The front-running Roy-Hart girls swim team downed runner-up Akron 88-82 this afternoon to clinch at least a tie for a third straight Niagara-Orleans League championship.

Roy-Hart improves to 8-0 while Akron slips to 6-2 with two meets remaining in the N-O season.

Mandy Hill doubled in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly and Kayla Hagen took both the 100 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle to lead the way for the Channel Cats. Hagen set a new school record in the 50 Free with a time of :25.33.

The Roy-Hart boys squad locked up outright possession of the N-O title with a 120-49 victory over Akron.

The Channel Cats stay perfect at 8-0 while the TigerSharks drop to 0-8.

Carter Green was a double winner in the 200 Free and 500 Free and Michael Miller in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke for the Channel Cats.

Albion sweeps Barker
The Albion boys downed Barker 57-37 to improve to 5-2-1 as Chase Froman doubled in the 200 Free and 500 Free as did Thomas Furmanski in the 50 free and 100 Backstroke.

The Albion girls bested Barker 59-36 to go to 2-6 as Avery Gaines won the 100 Free and 200 Free, Laiken Ricker the 200 Individual Medley, Michaela Pantano the 100 Butterfly, Devynn Pearles the 100 Backstroke, Rylee Pearles the 100 Breaststroke and Sierra Kast the 500 Free.

Medina splits with Newfane
The Medina boys improved to 5-2-1 with a 105-61 win over visiting Newfane as Hunter Heil won the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke, Chris Goyette the 100 Free and Isaac Pace the 100 Breaststroke. Heil set a new school record in the Backstroke with a time of :59.62.

Hannah Heil was a double winner in the 50 Free and 200 Free for the Medina girls which lost to Newfane 97-73.
