Champion Mustangs place 8 players on first team of B East Division All-Star squad
Undefeated (5-0) champion Medina/Lyndonville has placed a total of eight players on the first team of the B East Division All-Star football squad.
The Mustangs are represented by senior running backs Jake Cotter and Eric Neace, junior wide receiver Jalin Cooper, senior offensive lineman Tyler Howard, senior linebacker Dawson Joy, senior defensive back Lucas Porter, junior defensive back Mason Lewis and senior punter Dustin Joy.
Dawson Joy was named B East Division Defensive Player of the Year.
In addition, Mustangs Coach Eric Valley was named B East Division Coach of the Year.
Cotter had a total of 1,129 all purpose yards including 829 rushing and 8 touchdowns. On defense, he had 4 sacks.
Neace also scored 8 touchdowns and had 420 yards rushing. Defensively, he was in on 60 tackles and had a team leading 7.5 sacks.
Cooper had a team leading total of 1,213 all purpose yards and 16 touchdowns. He had 403 yards rushing with 7 TDs and 339 yards receiving with 6 TDs.
Howard was in on a team leading 79 tackles while Dawson Joy had 78, Dustin Joy 67, Porter 55 and Lewis 47. Howard also had 5.5 sacks while Porter had a team leading 6 interceptions and Lewis 2. Dawson Joy had 3 fumble recoveries and Porter 2.
The Mustangs have also placed six players on the second team including sophomore quarterback Izaiah Rhim, offensive linemen Ian Joseph, a junior, and Emmanuel Sones, a senior, along with senior defensive lineman Frank Carrasquillo, sophomore linebacker Johnny Salone and junior defensive back Brendan Luthart.
Rhim completed 51 of 115 passes for 741 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Three Mustangs received Honorable Mention including seniors DaJohn Brown and Powell Stephens and sophomore Ronnie Koonce.
