Carlton, Sandstone rally late for Midget wins
Carlton and Sandstone both rallied late for Albion Midget League wins last week.
Carlton rallied in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run triple by Stryker Braley to edge Rotary 8-6.
On the mound for Carlton, Luke Bedford had 7 strikeouts and Hayden Cowley 6 strikeouts.
For Rotary, Wyatt Cook had 3 hits including a home run, Evan Coots 3 including 2 doubles and Jayden Rivera a two-run triple. Coots also registered 13 strikeouts on the mound.
Sandstone rallied from an 11-6 deficit to score 4 runs in the fifth inning and 2 in the sixth to nip Barre 12-11. A single by Brayden Lindke drove in the tying run in the sixth and Elliott Slocum followed up with a double to plate the game winner, Slocum finished with 4 hits, Eli Johnson 3 and Brayden LaMartina 2,
For Barre, Brody Furness had 3 hits.
Sandstone, which is now 3-0, also downed Carlton 14-5 as Omer Fugate had a grand slam home run and a two-run double, LaMartina 3 hits including a two-run double and Lindke and Brycen Potter 2 hits each.
LaMartina and Rocco Sidari each had 8 strikeouts.
For Carlton, Jack Conn had 3 hits. Conn and Luke Bedford each had 6 strikeouts.
