Carlton, Rotary and Sandstone open Albion Midget League season at 2-1
Carlton, Rotary and Sandstone have all posted 2-1 record to open the Albion Midget League season.
Carlton opened the season with a narrow 2-1 victory over Vets as Damion Lattimer hurled a 1 hitter with 15 strikeouts. Kyle Woolston had 2 hits for Vets.
Carlton also downed Sandstone 9-2 as Lattimer pitched a no hitter with 15 strikeouts and also hit a three-run homer.
Rotary blanked Barre 3-0 in the opener as Zaire Reed threw a 2 hitter with 15 strikeouts. Mason Bennett had a two-run single.
Rotary also bested St. Mary’s 9-6 as Jacob Edwards had 2 hits and Dallas Ecker pitched 4 innings. Zac Olles and Brendan LaBaron had home runs for St. Mary’s.
Sandstone topped St. Mary’s 7-2 in the opener as Zach Colacecchi pitched a 3 hitter with 12 strikeouts and Caleb Fox banged out 3 hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Sandstone also defeated Vets 15 -5 as Fox hurled a 3 hitter with 11 strikeouts. At the plate Jake Hughson had 4 hits and Fox 3 including a triple with 4 RBIs.
Barre nipped Carlton 10-9 as Zander Meakin had a grand slam home run and Tyler Gibson a two-run homer. Nate Olmstead had 4 hits and 5 RBIs for Carlton.
Vets bested Rotary 12-5 as Bobby Dysard had 2 hits including a home run. Maurice Taylor and Woolston both pitched 3 innings.
St. Mary’s outlasted Barre 16-12 as Reuben Rivers had 4 hits, including a double and triple, Jonny Judd a home run and Jack Kinter a pair of hits including a key two-run single. Olles pitched the final two innings.
