Carlton nips Rotary in playoff opener
Albion Midget League playoff action got off to an exciting start Tuesday evening as No. 4 seed Carlton nipped No. 5 Rotary 4-3 at Carlton.
Carlton scored all of its runs in the second inning highlighted by a single by Colson Braley and doubles by Caden Woolston and Luke Bedford.
Rotary though made the finish exciting loading the bases in the final inning before Carlton got the final out.
Jack Conn finished with 3 hits and Woolston 2 for Carlton.
Wyatt Cook had 3 hits and Aaliya Jones 2 for Rotary.
Hayden Cowley registered 10 strikeouts over the first five innings on the mound for Carlton.
Evan Coots had 5 strikeouts in 2 innings of work for Rotary.
Carlton will next visit top seeded Sandstone in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday.
Friday’s other semifinal will have No. 3 Barre at No. 2 Elba.
The championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Sandstone.
