Cal-Mum tops Albion for tourney title
Struggling through a cold shooting night, Albion dropped 39-23 decision to Caledonia-Mumford this evening in the championship game of the Wheatland-Chili girls basketball tournament.
Albion grabbed a 7-5 advantage at the end of the first period but Cal-Mum rallied into leads of 17-13 at the half and 28-21 at the three-quarter mark.
Albion then managed just two points in the final stanza as Cal-Mum netted 11 during that stretch to clam the 16 point victory and the tourney crown.
Justice Nauden and Sarah Metzler both scored 8 points, Chanyce Powell 5 and Zhoe Starkweather 2 for Albion.
Powell, who also grabbed off 18 rebounds for the second game in a row, was named to the All-Tournament team.
