Byron-Bergen spikers claim Class C2 title
Rebounding from an opening set loss, undefeated (19-0) Byron-Bergen rallied to defeat Geneseo 14-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 in the Section V Class C2 volleyball championship match Friday evening.
Lauren Burke had 10 kills, 10 assists, 6 aces and 3 digs; Madison Farnsworth 9 kills and 7 digs; Annabella Vurraro 18 digs and 2 aces; Catherine Brumsted 11 assists, 4 aces and 3 kills and Quinn Chapell 6 kills, 3 digs and 1 block to lead the way for Byron-Bergen.
Farnsworth and Vurraro were both named to the All-Tournament team.
In the Section VI Class C1 final, Eden defeated Akron in four sets 25-18, 16-25, 25-10,25-7.
Girls Soccer Sectionals
Aquinas scored a pair of second half goals to down Newfane 2-0 in the girls soccer Class B Far West Regional Friday.
