The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Orleans County with 1 to 2 inches of snow expected between 6 and 8 p.m.

The statement also includes Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston and Ontario counties.

“An area of moderate snow will move across northwestern New York early this evening,” the Weather Service said. “This will reduce visibility to a half mile at times. Also, with nightfall and colder temperatures, the snow will begin to accumulate, with a slushy 1 to 2 inches expected through 8 p.m.”

Motorists should be prepared for slick spots on area roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses. The snow will taper off late this evening, the Weather Service said.
