Burgard roars past Albion

Plagued by a rash of turnovers, Albion dropped a 48-0 decision to Burgard High of Buffalo this evening in a B-North Division game.

Burgard capitalized on five Albion turnovers including a fumble, an interception and a blocked punt which led to three first half Bulldog touchdowns and a 20-0 lead. Quarterback Rayshawn Jones scored those three touchdowns on runs of 7, 7 and 38 yards.

Burgard then put a lock on the victory by scoring 14 unanswered points in both the third and fourth quarters.

Des Blackmon had two interceptions on the evening for Albion as Steven Stauss, Jon Trembley and Brett Zicari seven tackles each to lead a busy Purple Eagles defensive unit.

Burgard improves to 2-0 and Albion slips to 1-1.

Lew-Port 30, Barker/Roy-Hart 16
LEWISTON – Trailing 8-6 at the half, Lew-Port rallied to outscore Barker/Roy-Hart 24-8 in the second half this evening to claim the B-North Division victory.

A touchdown run by quarterback Jacob Haight and a two point conversion by Andy Xapsos in the second quarter gave Barker/Roy-Hart the 8-6 half-time lead.

Lew-Port moved out to a 22-8 lead in the fourth quarter but Barker/Roy-Hart cut the deficit to 2-16 with a safety and a touchdown run by Josh Mead but could get no closer.

Lew-Port is now 2-0 and Barker/Roy-Hart 0-2.

Attica 39, Holley 0
ATTICA – Attica roared out to a 39-0 half-time advantage over Holley this evening in a Genesee Region League game that was halted at the break as the visiting Hawks lineup was reduced to about a dozen players after five players were injured in the first half.

Attica is now 2-0 and Holley 0-2.
