Burgard ousts Medina in B1 sectional game
A second half comeback bid fell short as No. 11 seed Medina dropped a 61-51 decision to host No. 6 Burgard in a Section VI Class B1 boys basketball pre-quarterfinal round game this evening.
Trailing 22-7 after the first quarter and 34-24 at the half, Medina rallied back to within four, 47-43, after three quarters but could get no closer.
Christian Moss scored 11 in the second period and Cole Callard 11 in the third to key the Mustangs comeback bid.
Moss finished with 20 and Callard 17. Moss also grabbed off 17 rebounds.
Wilson 65, Portville 63
In a Class B2 pre-quarterfinal, No. 8 Wilson nipped visiting No. 9 Portville 65-63.
Aidan Neumann scored 27, Blake Martin 15 and Ryan Hough 12 to set the pace for Wilson which led 35-28 at half-time and 54-46 after three quarters.
Section VI Class A2 Girls Playoffs
No. 4 seed Depew downed visiting No. 5 Albion 57-24 in a Section VI Class A2 girls quarterfinal round contest.
Madison Hughson scored 15 to lead Albion which trailed 21-7 after the first quarter and 43-16 at the half.
