Capitalizing on excellent field position to build up a commanding 21-0 half-time advantage, undefeated front-running Alden went on to blank visiting Medina/Lyndonville 35-0 this evening in a B East Division game.

The victory, combined with Depew’s 29-19 victory over East Aurora/Holland, clinches at least a tie for the B East title for Alden which stays perfect at 4-0 in the division and 5-0 overall. The Bulldogs close out the B East season by hosting East Aurora next Friday. Depew is now 3-1 and East Aurora/Holland 2-1 in the B East title chase.

Alden scored on three of four first half possessions as Zach Loper had touchdown runs of 6 and 18 yards and quarterback Bryan Cybulski threw a 25 yard TD pass to Jordan Starkweather with only 32 seconds remaining in the half.

Cybulski also had key pass completions of 19 and 12 yards to Brandon Weierhauser to key the Bulldogs first scoring drive. The first completion came on a third and 11 situation and the second on a fourth and 8. Cybulski also hooked up with Lyle Grant for a 25 yard completion to key the second scoring drive.

Mustangs back Eric Neace follows his blockers to try for additional yardage.

Alden started its four first half drives at the Mustangs 48, Mustangs 45, Bulldogs 48 and Mustangs 23 while the four Medina/Lyndonville first half drives started at the Mustangs 20, 20,25 and 30.

The Mustangs crossed midfield only once in the half when Jake Cotter broke loose for 35 yards down to the Alden 26 yard line as time expired.

The Bulldogs put a lock on the victory when Grant broke loose for a 41 yard touchdown run in the first two minutes of the third quarter to make it 28-0.

The loss drops Medina/Lyndonville to 1-2 in the division and 3-2 overall.
