Fast breaking at every opportunity Burgard romped to a 57-30 victory over turnover plagued Medina this evening in the Mustangs home court season opener.

DeJuan Williams, Jorge Villa and Kenyon Pringle each scored 12 points and Brandon Myers 11 to lead the balanced attack for the quick moving Bulldogs.

The Medina duo of Jalin Cooper (1) and Izaiah Rhim (5) go up for a rebound.

Izaiah Rhim led Medina with 8 as Jalin Cooper added 5, Mason Lewis and Trenton Jones 4, Brendan Luthart 3 and Brian Fry, Alex Allis and Jorge Phillips 2 each.

Trailing 8-2 at the outset, Medina did rally into a brief 10-10 tie after baskets by Allis, Cooper and Lewis but the Mustangs could not take the lead.

Breaking away from the 10-10 deadlock, Burgard regained the lead for good by closing the opening period with a 9-0 run. Threes by Williams and Myers at the buzzer highlighted that spurt which put the Bulldogs up 19-10.

Keeping the momentum, Burgard used a 14-4 second period scoring edge to extend the lead to 19, 33-14, at the half as five players contributed buckets during that stretch.

Burgard led by as many as 30, 50-20, late in the third period.  Pringle netted 8 in the stanza which ended with the Bulldogs up by 26 at 52-26.
