Bulldog gridders roll past Mustangs

Building up a 20-0 halftime advantage, Burgard went on to defeat Medina 36-6 in a key B North Division game this evening at Vets Park.

Two long touchdown plays, a 60 yard run by Marcus Hampton and an 88 yard pass from Kijanna Thompson to Mark Drain, highlighted Burgard’s big first half which also included a 5 yard TD run by Hampton after the Bulldogs recovered a blocked Medina punt at the Mustangs 10 yard line.

Medina did drive to the Burgard 3 late in the second quarter as quarterback Jason Hellwig completed five passes but the Mustangs were stopped on downs.

Burgard tacked on two touchdowns in the second half on a 20 yard fumble recovery return in the third quarter and an 11 yard TD run by Dejaun McCullough on the final play of the game.

Medina’s lone touchdown came on a 17 yard run by Brett Pecoraro in the final minute of the third quarter.

Austin Buckland and Devin Joy had fumble recoveries for the Mustangs defensive unit.

Burgard improves to 3-0 in the division and 4-0 overall while Medina slips to 1-2, 2-2.
