Bruning is playing in MLB Draft League

Roy-Hart graduate Jacob Bruning has signed to play for the State College, Pa. Spikes in the MLB Draft League.

The MLB Draft League is the professional development portion of Major League Baseball, which is for players who have exhausted their college eligibility and/or will not be returning to college baseball.

Bruning graduated from Niagara University in 2022 after playing for the Purple Eagles for four years. He then finished his collegiate career at the University of South Alabama.

At Niagara he pitched in 41 games which included 21 starts. In 136.2 innings he struck out 136 batters while having a 4.94 ERA with eight wins. As a senior he had a career high 47.1 innings pitched and 47 strikeouts in 17 appearances.

During his senior year at Roy-Hart he helped pitch and hit the Rams to the state semifinals. He earned All-Western New York and All State Class B honors.
