Broncos, Stallions score playoff wins

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Lavonn Guy (1) scored 3 touchdowns in the Medina Broncos playoff win over the Albion JV Eagles Saturday at Vets Park.

The Medina Broncos and Stallions both scored semifinal round victories Saturday in the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) playoffs at Vets Park.

The Broncos rallied to nip Albion 28-27 in the JV Division while the Stallions romped past Newfane 35-7 in the Varsity Division.

In the Mini Division, Newfane downed Albion 27-0.

Medina Broncos 28, Albion 27
Trailing 19-7 at the half, the Broncos rallied to nip Albion as Lavonn Guy scored 3 touchdowns on the day, including a long 70 yard run, and Aiden Pitts 1 to lead the Medina attack. Guy also had 4 all important extra point runs.

Amari Jones had touchdown runs of 13 and 2 yards as well as a 48 yard interception return for a score and Javon Jones a 14 yard TD reception for Albion.

Amari Jones also had 18 tackles on defense, Javon Jones 6 and Devon Larabee 5.

The Broncos will face Tri Town in the title game next Saturday.

Medina Stallions 35, Newfane 7
Emmanuel Taylor rushed for 230 yards and 4 touchdowns on carries of 23, 37, 58 and 17 yards to lead the way for the Stallions as Zack Oliver added a 3 yard TD run. Taylor also had a pair of extra points while Brian Fry ran for 1 and passed to Tyler Chinn for another.

On defense, Taylor had 5 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception and a fumble recovery. Chinn and Logan Ballcome both had 3 solo tackles and Oliver, Noah Skinner and Carson Dusett 2 each.

The Stallions will face Akron for the championship next Saturday.

Newfane 27, Albion 0

Makyell Walker had 114 yards rushing and 7 tackles for Albion. Kwame Riley also had a fumble recovery and Luke Bell a sack.
