Bombers top Mustangs in tourney opener
Improving to 7-0, East Rochester posted a 64-37 victory over Medina in the opening round of the Kendall Tournament this afternoon.
Medina did hold a 12-10 lead midway through the first quarter after two threes by Preston Woodworth and one each by Justin Pitts and Trevon Shine.
However, East Rochester answered with a 10-0 run to lose the period and regain the lead for good at 20-12.
The Bombers went on to hold leads of 35-22 at the half and 47-34 after three quarters.
Elijah Tanner and Daniel Preston each scored 11 and Ray Allen 10 to lead the balanced attack for the Bombers.
Jerrell Nealy led Medina with 11 as Woodworth had 9, Shine and Pitts 6 and Christian Moss and Roosevelt Mitchell 2 each and Jason Beyer 1.
Medina will now face the loser of the CG Finney vs. Kendall semifinal in the consolation game at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. The championship game will follow.
LeRoy 64, Roy-Hart 45
Leading by a narrow 28-24 margin at the half, LeRoy used a huge 26-4 third period scoring edge to down Roy-Hart 64-45 this afternoon in the consolation game of the Batavia Lions Club Tournament at Genesee Community College.
Dan Aquilina scored 16 and Rem Albee 15 to lead Roy-Hart which next hosts Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
