A string of bogeys stymied her attempt to climb up the leader board as Medina’s Melanie Green shot a 4 over par 76 today in the third round of the girls Jr PGA championship at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky.

Green, who will be a junior at Medina High this fall, entered the day at even par and was still only 1 under after eight holes. However, consecutive bogeys on 9, 10 and 11 pushed her score up to 4 over. On the day she had 7 bogeys and 3 birdies finishing with a score of 76.

Green, who shot a 1 over 73 on Monday and a 1 under 71 on Tuesday now has a 220 total heading into Thursday’s final round of 18 holes.

Green, who captured both the Section VI and state titles during this past high school year, qualified for the Jr PGA Championship by winning the Western New York District Jr PGA title.
