Body found at Point Breeze is a male
POINT BREEZE – The body of a deceased person found on the shoreline at Point Breeze this morning is a male, Undersheriff Mike Mele said.
The body was discovered this morning by a woman who was watching the sunrise at the Point. She spotted the body just east of the harbor, between the Oak Orchard Lighthouse and the former Barbary Coast restaurant next door.
Orleans County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 5:20 in the morning.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is doing an autopsy to try to determine the cause of death.
Mele said the Sheriff’s Office has reached out to counties along Lake Ontario and also the Canadian government to see if they have any recent missing person reports. Mele estimated the person had been in the water within two weeks.
The male didn’t have a wallet on him or any tattoos. The State Police identification is assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the case, Mele said.
