A lightning quick two touchdown scoring burst midway through the third quarter keyed East Aurora to a 21-19 win over Medina/Lyndonville/Barker in a match-up football game this evening at Vets Park.

Trailing 13-0 East Aurora got back into the game on a 10 yard touchdown run by David Morris and an extra point kick by Lucas Juliano with 4:56 to go in the third period.

Tyler Chinn hauls in a touchdown pass for the Mustangs.

The Blue Devils got the ball back just one play after the ensuing kickoff as Jonathan Staniszewski intercepted a pass and returned it to the Mustangs 2 yard line.

Jack Rogers then scored on a 2 yard touchdown run on the next snap and Juliano again added the extra point kick to suddenly vault the Blue Devils into a 14-13 lead just 23 seconds after their first TD.

East Aurora boosted its advantage to 21-13 on a 1 yard touchdown run and extra point kick, both by Juliano with 7:13 to go in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Devils recovered a Medina fumble at the East Aurora 42 to set up that opportunity.

The Mustangs did answer right back on a 65 yard touchdown pass play from Jarin Rhim to Brian Fry cutting the deficit to 21-19 with 6:58 remaining. However, the Mustangs missed on the run attempt for the game tying two-point conversion.

The Mustangs got the ball back two more times but had the first drive stopped on a lost fumble at their own 12 and the second on downs at their 29.

The Mustangs had built up a 13-0 lead as Fry scored on a 2 yard touchdown run with 7 seconds to go in the first half and Rhim hooked up with Tyler Chinn for a 13 yard TD pass with 10:12 to go in the third quarter.

Fumble recoveries set up both Mustang scores, the first by Fry at the East Aurora 16 and the second by Chinn at the Blue Devils 21.

In all the Mustangs lost five turnovers. In fact Ti Marsh had interceptions for the Blue Devils on three straight Mustangs possessions in the second quarter.

The Mustangs finish the season at 2-6 while the Blue Devils are 4-4.
