Billies post win over Mustangs

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Josh Scroger had two hits for Medina this afternoon in the Mustangs loss to Williamsville South at Vets Park.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Williamsville South scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to key a 6-1 victory over Medina this afternoon in a non league game at Vets Park.

A two-run single by Billy Hartford snapped the 1-1 tie for the Billies which later put a lock on the win by scoring three times in the seventh on a single and two errors.

Josh Scroger had two hits and Gage Masters one for Medina whose lone run came in the third inning.

Jason Hellwig pitched the first five innings and Matt Riemer the final two for the Mustangs.

Now at 0-2, Medina is scheduled to host Roy-Hart at 4:45 p.m. Monday in the Niagara-Orleans League opener.
