A Maine resident is now atop the leaderboard in the Rotary Fishing Derby. Michael Thompson of Presque Isle caught a 24-pound, 11-ounce salmon which leads the derby and its $4,000 grand prize.

That knocks down a 24-pound, 4-ounce salmon caught by Rochester resident Kevin Kelly on Saturday, the first day of the derby.

The derby continues until Aug. 18 with $8,800 in prize money up for grabs in four divisions – salmon, rainbow trout/steelhead, brown trout and lake trout.

The Albion Rotary Club has been running the derby for more than 30 years. To see the leaderboard, click here.
