Big weekend in Panther Country

Newfane High’s Nate Martin earned third place honors in the 145 pound weight class at the state wrestling championship held this weekend at the Times Union Center in Albany. Martin went 4-1 on the weekend with his only loss coming at the hands of the eventual champion. He scored a 3-2 win to earn third place honors and finish the season at 38-3.

Newfane’s squad took first place honors at the Niagara-Orleans 5th and 6th grade boys basketball tournament held Saturday at Lyndonville. Newfane defeated Albion 44-36 in the finals after downing Medina 26-23 in the semifinals and besting Wilson in the first round.
