Big stretch run rallies Albion past Maryvale

Trailing after each of the first three periods, No. 6 seed Albion used a big fourth quarter scoring surge to down visiting No. 11 Maryvale 57-49  this evening in the pre quarterfinals of the Section VI Class B1 boys basketball playoffs.

Trailing 15-10 after one quarter, 27-21 at the half and 40-33 at the three-quarter mark, Albion erupted for a big 24-9 scoring burst in the final stanza to claim the win.

A three by Bailey Blanchard tied the game at 42-42 with two minutes to go and another three by Liam Ward put the Purple Eagles on top at 48-46.

Three free throws off a double technical helped boost the Albion lead to 56-49.

Deyonci Farley scored 10 down the stretch for the Purple Eagles as Blanchard had 6, Ward 4 and Kevin Hillman and Chris Shabazz 2 each.

Blanchard finished the evening with 18 as Farley added 14, Ward 13 and Hillman and Shabazz 6 each.

Improving to 16-5, Albion next visits No. 3 Depew in the B1 quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Saturday.
