Big search underway for Barre man with dementia

BARRE – There is a big search underway for a Barre man who went missing on Friday evening.

Robert M. Arnett, 71, was last seen at his home on Quaker Hill Road at about 7 p.m. He suffers from Alzheimer’s and requires medication. He may be wearing a navy T-shirt, light jean jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. He is approximately 5’ 11’’ and 200 pounds with gray hair, gray facial hair and brown eyes.

There were about 30 first responders looking for Arnett last night from about 10 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.

Firefighters and law enforcement have reassembled this morning at the Barre fire hall and are out looking for Arnett. The fire departments have off-road vehicles while law enforcement agencies have K9 units.

Michael Mele, chief deputy for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, said the State Police will have a drone out and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department will also provide air support with the search when the weather improves.
