Big scoring burst powers Akron to Class C regional field hockey victory over E.R.
A lightning quick three goal scoring burst late in the first half keyed Akron to a 7-0 victory over East Rochester in the Class C Far West Regional field hockey game this afternoon at Williamsville North.
Leading by a narrow 1-0 margin, Akron broke the contest wide open with the decisive scoring burst ignited by a goal by Alexis Bell with 13:18 remaining in the first half off an assist from Abby Stone.

Akron got rolling just six minutes later when Stone scored what proved to be the game winner at the 22:20 mark.
Keeping the momentum, the Lady Tigers then got three corner opportunities of their own capitalizing on the third with Bell’s goal which ignited the decisive three goal uprising.
Stone also scored Akron’s two second half goals.
Akron next faces the winner of the Whitney Point (Section IV) vs. Roundout Valley (Section IX) regional in the state Class C semifinals next Saturday at Vestal High School near Binghamton.
The appearance in the state semis will be the first for Akron since 1995 when the Lady Tigers also bested East Rochester 2-0 in the Far West Regional.
