Big home run weekends for local college duo

Medina High graduate Brian Fry and Roy-Hart grad Shelby Wolf both had big home run weekends on the collegiate diamonds

Fry, a freshman starting shortstop at Toledo University, hit a pair of home runs during the Rockets four game sweep of Eastern Michigan.

Fry had 3 hits including a home run and 3 RBIs on Saturday in a 21-7 Toledo win. He then had a pair of hits, including a homer, on Sunday during the Rockets 15-5 victory. He also had a double in the Rockets 5-1 series opening win of Friday.

He now has 9 doubles, 3 homers and 14 RBIs on the season.

Wolf, a freshman at Niagara County Community College, had a huge day at the plate Sunday during he Thunderwolves doubleheader sweep of Tompkins-Cortland Community College by scores of 18-1 and 15-0.

She had a grand slam home run and a total of 5 RBIs in the opener and then belted 2 home runs and drove in 3 runs in the nightcap.

Wilson grad Julia Faery also had a big opening game with 3 hits including a triple and home run with 3 RBIs.

NCCC also swept a twin bill from Onondaga Community College on Saturday by scores of 6-5 in 8 innings and 10-2.

Faery drew a bases loaded walk to force in the winning run in the opener and Wolf had a pair of RBIs in the second game.
