Big first inning keys win for Mustangs

A big first inning scoring burst keyed Medina to a 6-0 win over Alexander in a non league baseball game at Vets Park this afternoon.

The Mustangs scored all six of their runs in the opening frame on two-run singles by Branden Christiaansen and Brody Fry, an RBI single by Carter Woodworth and a fielders choice play. A lead off single by Aidan Papaj and two walks loaded the bases to set up the threat.

A trio of pitchers combined to hurl a one hitter for the Mustangs. Lucas Grimes pitched the first three innings allowing one hit and striking out three. Preston Woodworth hurled the next three innings fanning seven and Carter Woodworth pitched the final frame striking out three.

Now at 2-0, Medina is next scheduled to host LeRoy in a non league contest on Friday.

Niagara-Wheatfield 6, Roy-Hart 5
Niagara-Wheatfield rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip visiting Roy-Hart 6-5 in a non league game.

Jake Gould banged out two triples for Roy-Hart which also got a pair of hits from both Dawson Draper and Rem Albee.

Oakfield-Alabama 10, Albion 0
Scoring two quick runs without the benefit of a hit in the first inning, Oakfield-Alabama went on to down host Albion 10-0 in a non league game this afternoon.

Kaiden Froman and Jack Kinter had the only two hits for Albion.

Barker 19, Holley 2
Barker downed host Holley 19-2 in a non league game as Owen Harris, Tristen Garcia and Isaac Monaco each had a pair of hits, including a double and two RBI, and Ireland Brady a double.

On the mound, Brady and Charlie LaGreco each threw two innings with three strikeouts and Blake Schwab one inning with one strikeout.
