Fast start powers Purple Eagles past Huskies

Exploding out to a commanding 30-0 halftime advantage, Albion went on to defeat host Olean 37-6 this evening in the B2 Division season opener.

Albion jumped out to a 13-0 first quarter lead on touchdown runs of 29 yards by Brilliance Johnson and 12 yards by Ugene Harrison along with an extra point kick by Alex Rustay.

Keeping the momentum, the Purple Eagles upped the advantage to 30-0 at the half on second quarter touchdown runs of 2 yards by Michael DiCureia and 7 yards by Johnson along with a 14 yard field goal and two extra point kicks by Rustay.

Nate Moore scored Albion’s lone second half touchdown on a 24 yard pass interception return. It was his second interception of the evening as Matt Kovaleski and Tyray White each had 1.

Harrison and Jessy Cruz led the Purple Eagles defense with 9 tackles each.

Albion quarterback Bryce Prtichard completed 12 of 19 passes for 222 yards as Matt Kovaleski hauled in 7 of the aerials for 129 yards.

Albion next hosts Lackawanna next Friday evening.

Gowanda/Pine Valley 38, Roy-Hart 7
Building up a 20-0 halftime lead, Gowanda/Pine Valley went on to defeat host Roy-Hart 38-7 in a season opening C North Division game.

Gavyn Boyle scored Roy-Hart’s lone touchdown on a 5 yard pass reception from quarterback Charlie Brigham as Charlie Bruning added the extra point kick.
