Big early inning sparks Kendall past Albion

A big early inning scoring burst sparked Kendall to a 10-0 win over visiting Albion in a non league baseball game this afternoon.

Kendall broke the game open in the second inning erupting for 6 runs on a three-run double by Colby Hughes, a two-run single by Jonny Conte and an RBI double by Jonas Rhodes to snap a scoreless deadlock. An error and a walk set up the big inning which also included a single by Vinnie D’Agostino.

The Eagles upped the lead to 8-0 by scoring twice in the fourth frame on back to back doubles by D’Agostino and Hughes and an error.

Two more errors plated the Eagles final two runs in the sixth inning.

Conte, D’Agostino and Hughes each finished with a pair of hits.

Gavin Braun picked up the win on the mound scattering 5 hits and striking out 7 over six innings.

Albion’s best scoring opportunity came in the top of the first inning as the Purple Eagles loaded the bases with no outs on a single by Drew Boyce, a walk and a single by Nate Gibson.

However, the Purple Eagles could not capitalize as Braun quickly ended the threat by retiring the next three batters on two strikeouts and a groundout.

Kendall improves to 4-0 and Albion slips to 0-3.
