Third period sparks Albion girls past Newfane

A big third quarter scoring edge keyed Albion to a 41-32 win over visiting Newfane in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Leading by a narrow 16-14 margin at the half, Albion outscored Newfane 18-6 in the decisive third period to open up a 34-20 advantage. Madison Hughson scored 6 and Julia Knight and Paige Newton 4 each to lead that uprising.

Hughson finished with 14 and Knight 10.

Sienna Bowers scored 12 and Mallory Schultz 10 to pace Newfane.

Albion is now 3-4 and Newfane 4-3 in N-O action.

Defending champion Wilson improved to 7-0 with a 58-28 win over Roy-Hart.

Peyton McInnis scored 17 to lead Wilson as Cait Cliffe and Bella Thrush both added 11.
