Big 2nd quarter sparks Raiders past Hawks

A big second quarter scoring surge sparked Barker to a 64-46 victory over visiting Holley in a non league boys basketball game this evening.

Breaking away from a 13-13 deadlock at the end of the first quarter, Barker outscored Holley 21-2 in the decisive second period to open up a commanding 34-15 halftime advantage.

Aidan Mescall scored 9, including a three, and Aidan Voss 8, including two threes to spearhead the Raiders uprising.

Keeping the momentum, the Raiders then outpointed the Hawks 22-13 in the third period to extend the advantage to 28, 56-28, at the three-quarter mark.

Mescall poured in 13, including a three, to lead that Raiders uprising.

Mescall finished with a game high 27 as Voss and Brad Cantrell both added 10 to lead the Raiders. Luey Castro chipped in with 7, Cameron Hefferon 4, Jordan Leising 3, Timothy Dent 2 and Thomas Harris 1.

Vinny Golisano scored 14 and Destin Kuyal 13 to lead Holley. Lance Babcock added 7, Joe Silpoch 5 and Ben Cox and Cameron Bates 2 each.

Barker is now 3-4 and Holley 0-6.

LeRoy 71, Albion 44
LeRoy bested visiting Albion 71-44 in a non league game as Merritt Holly Jr. led the way with 30.

Amari Jones scored 12, Blake Preston 10 and Joh Eibl 9 for Albion which trailed 43-23 at the half.
