Biden wins Orleans and NY in presidential primary, but locally not much Dem turnout at polls

Joe Biden won the New York presidential primary on Tuesday. The primary didn’t draw many Democrats in Orleans County on Tuesday. Biden’s main competitor, Bernie Sanders, conceded in April.

Only 484 voted at the polls in the primary on Tuesday and with early voting. There are 5,167 registered Democrats in the county.

The vote total on Tuesday doesn’t include absentees. The Board of Elections received 1,276 requests for absentee ballots from Democrats.

Here are the vote totals for the presidential candidates in Orleans County:

  • Joe Biden, 338
  • Bernie Sanders, 67
  • Elizabeth Warren, 18
  • Pete Buttigieg, 17
  • Amy Klobuchar, 11
  • Andrew Yang, 9
  • Michael Bloomberg, 8
  • Tulsi Gabbard, 5
  • Deval Patrick, 5
  • Michael Bennet, 3
  • Tom Steyer, 3
