Bennett surges past Barker/Roy-Hart

BARKER – Leading by a narrow 16-15 margin, Bennett scored two unanswered touchdowns late in the second quarter and two more in the third to key a 48-21 victory over Barker/Roy-Hart this afternoon in the B North Division season finale.

Bennett opened up a 30-15 lead at the half and then broke the game wide open in the third quarter as interceptions set up a pair of touchdowns.

Barker stayed close for most of the first half as Jacob Haight scored on a 71 yard run in the first quarter and on a 25-yard pass reception from quarterback Andy Xapsos in the second quarter.

Haight added the two-point conversion after the first TD and the extra point kick after the second to briefly keep Barker/Roy-Hart within one at 16-15.

Haight also scored Barker/Roy-Hart’s final touchdown on a 13 yard run late in the fourth quarter.

Bennett finishes the B North campaign at 4-2 (4-3 overall) and Barker/Roy-Hart at 0-6, 1-6 overall.

Barker/Roy-Hart is now slated to close out the season with interdivisional games against Starpoint and Newfane over the next two weeks while Bennett advances to the Section VI Class B playoffs as the B North Division’s No. 3 seed.
