Bees top Tigers to lock up G-R mat title

Putting a lock on the Genesee Region League wrestling title, Byron-Bergen downed host Lyndonville 40-23 this evening.

Pins by Brendin Galves (145), Roman Smith (152), Jeremiah Romero (190) and Bradley Tatar (285) along with technical fall wins by Parker Moore (138) and Solomon Smith (160) keyed the victory for the Bees.

Justin Holmes (124) had a double overtime major decision win for Lyndonville which also got a major decision win by Iziah Rodriquez (108) and decision wins by Ty Holmes (131), Ben Doolan (170) and Abby Alexander (101)

The Tigers finish the G-R season at 1-2.

Newfane completed the dual match portion of the Niagara-Orleans League season by defeating Akron 58-10 on Wednesday and Roy-Hart/Barker 49-17 this evening.

The league season will conclude with the annual All-League tournament at Albion on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
