Bees outlast Tigers in overtime
In a wild free scoring overtime shootout, host Byron-Bergen outlasted Lyndonville 87-79 this evening in a Genesee Region League game.
Trailing by 15 at the half, Byron-Bergen came battling back to outscore Lyndonville 26-13 in the final period to knot the contest at 70-70 forcing overtime.
The Bees hit six three’s in the decisive fourth quarter including the tying long-range bucket by Jordan Coffta with just one second remaining.
Keeping the momentum, Byron-Bergen then outscored Lyndonville 19-7 in the overtime period to claim the win.
Nick Hinkson scored 29 and Brandon Schoolcraft 20, both career highs, to lead the Lyndonville attack. Eric Neace added 12, Corey Hydock 7, AJ Buckland 5 and Eddie Schildt 4 for the Tigers.
Schoolcraft scored 8, Hinkson 7 and Buckland 5 to spark Lyndonville out to 22-12 first quarter lead.
The Tigers went on to hold leads of 43-28 at the half and 57-44 at the three-quarter mark. Hinkson tallied 7 in both the second and third periods.
However, the Bees barrage of six three’s down the stretch keyed Bergen’s big comeback.
The Bees improve to 5-1 while the Tigers slip to 2-2 in the league and 3-3 overall.
