Batavia 2 tops Albion in U16 diamond playoffs
A late scoring surge earned Batavia 2 a 9-5 victory over Albion this evening in the opening round of the Batavia U16 League baseball playoffs.
Trailing 5-2, Batavia 2 rallied to score 4 runs in the fifth inning and 3 more in the sixth aided by 3 errors.
Albion jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by scoring once in the second on a single by Zander Meakin and twice in the third on a triple by Deyonci Farley and a fielders choice play. A single by Mike Harling helped set up that threat.
The Albion lead increased to 5-2 in the top of the fifth on an RBI double by Farley and an RBI single by Bryce Kelley after Dylan Fox had singled to ignite the uprising.
Farley and Fox both had a pair of hits.
Albion next plays in a consolation round game on Saturday.
