Basketball sectional action begins Tuesday

Postseason basketball playoff action gets underway on Tuesday as No. 8 seeded Kendall hosts No. 9 Perry at 6 p.m. in a Section V Class C1 girls contest.

Kendall brings an 11-9 record into the sectionals while Perry is 10-10.

Also in Class C1, No. 12 Holley (7-12) will visit Genesee Region League foe No. 5 Byron-Bergen (14-6) at 6 p.m.

The Lady Bees downed the Lady Hawks twice during the G-R season by scores of 55-34 and 41-25.

In Class D, Lyndonville (9-11) will visit G-R opponent No. 6 Notre Dame (14-6) at 6 p.m.

The Irish bested the Lady Tigers twice during the G-R campaign by scores of 53-27 and 44-31.

Wednesday’s Matchups
Section 5 boys playoff competition will begin on Wednesday.

In Class C1, No. 12 Holley (4-15) will visit No. 5 Sodus (12-5) at 7 p.m.

No. 11 Kendall (7-13) will visit G-R foe No. 6 Wheatland-Chili (14-6) at 7 p.m.

W-C downed Kendall 58-41 during the G-R season.

In Class D, No. 9 Lyndonville (0-19) will visit No. 8 Friendship-Scio (4-16) at 5 p.m.

The Albion boys will also begin postseason play of Wednesday as the No. 11 Purple Eagles (3-17) visit No. 6 Alden (7-13) in a Section VI Class A2 contest at 7 p.m. The winner will visit No. 3 Depew on Friday.

In Section VI girls playoff competition on Wednesday No. 9 Medina (4-12) will visit No. 8 Fredonia (9-10) in a Class B1 game at 7 p.m. The winner will visit No. 1 Southwestern on Friday.

In Class B2, No. 8 Roy-Hart (7-12) will host No. 9 Cleveland Hill (5-14) at 7 p.m. The victor will visit top seeded Wilson (17-3) on Friday.

Thursday’s Contests
Seeded No. 11 the Medina boys (6-14) will visit No. 6 Burgard (13-5) at 7 p.m. Thursday in a Section VI Class B1 game. The winner will visit No. 3 Newfane (18-2) in the quarterfinals at noon Saturday.

In Class B2, No. 8 Wilson will host No. 9 Portville at 7 p.m.

Barker, which is seeded No. 8 in Class C will host a pre-quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday’s opening round contest between No. 16 Brocton and No. 9 Holland.

In a Class A2 girls’ contest, No.5 Albion (6-13) will visit No. 4 Depew (13-7) at 7 p.m.

Friday’s Games
Section VI Class B2 girls contests will have No. 4 Akron hosting No. 5 Health Sciences and No. 7 Newfane visiting No. 2 East Aurora both at 7 p.m.

Saturday Quarterfinal
A Section VI Class B2 boys quarterfinal game at noon Saturday will have No. 4 Roy-Hart hosting the winner of the opening round contest between No. 5 Falconer and No. 12 JFK.
