Barre wins two to hold Midget lead

Undefeated (9-0) Barre scored a pair of wins this past week to maintain a one game lead over Sandstone (7-1) in the Albion Midget League title race.

Barre nipped Vets 3-2 in seven innings and shutout Holley 13-0.

Austin Aman hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to earn Barre the narrow win over Vets.

Liam Ward pitched four innings and Alex Gibson three for Barre.

Thomas Furmanski pitched six innings for Vets and also tripled and scored on a fielders choice play in the seventh inning.

Drew Caldwell hurled four innings of no hit, no run ball for Barre in the win over Holley.

At the plate, Gibson had three hits and drove in four runs.


Sandstone defeated Vets 4-1 as Pat Ricker went the distance on the mound striking out 10.

Kyle Hughson had a two-run double in the first inning to get Sandstone rolling.

Quentin Soto had an RBI double for Vets.


Rotary had a big three win week to improve to 7-2 downing Carlton 15-1, St. Mary’s 9-4 and Holley 14-7.

Mike Brewer and Max Hapeman each pitched three innings for Rotary in the win over Carlton.

Marcos Belasquez had three hits and drove in three runs for Rotary.

Damien Lattimer had two hits for Carlton.

Rotary used a big six run sixth inning to down St. Mary’s as Dallas Eker, Zaire Reed, Ryan Krening and Belasquez all had key hits in the frame.

Reed then hurled four shutout innings and also banged out three hits for Rotary in the win over Holley.


Actives downed St. Mary’s 22-7 as Javon Jones and Anthony Freeman both had four hits and Kyle Woolston three. Two of Freeman’s hits were doubles. Woolston also pitched three innings.
