Barre rallies past Vets in playoff semis

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Cade Wolcott, left,  and Tyler Gibson combined to hurl Barre to a 7-3 win over Vets this evening in the semifinals of the Albion Midget League playoffs.

Top seeded Barre rallied to down No. 3 Vets 7-3 this evening in the semifinal round of the Albion Midget League playoffs at Barre Town Park.

Trailing 3-2, Barre rallied into the lead for good by scoring 4 times in the fourth inning on two-run doubles by Brad Martin and Cade Wolcott.

The Barre offense also included a home run by Tyler Gibson.

Wolcott and Gibson both had a pair of hits on the evening and they also combined for 14 strikeouts on the mound. Wolcott struck out 9 over the first 4 innings and Gibson fanned 5 over the final two frames.

Vets had taken a 3-2 lead on a two-run homer by Bobby Dysard in the top of the third inning. A single by Bryar Dysard plated the Vets first run of the evening.

Barre will now face the winner of Friday’s St. Mary’s vs. Sandstone semifinal in the championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Midget League Field.
