Barre Cubs top Carlton, 5-4, to win U10 title

ALBION – The Barre Cubs won the U10 title in the Albion Midget League today with a 5-4 victory over Carlton at the Midget League Field.

Barre jumped out to a 3-run lead in the first inning with 2 runs coming off a double by Owen Bentley.

Carlton came back with two runs in the second and tied the game, 4-4, after Caiden Wilson hit a two-run single.

Barre scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Myles Beach hit a single to bring home Cami London to clinch the game for Barre, which was the top seed going into the playoffs and finishes with a 10-2 record.

Barre had strong pitching from Josh Bovenzi and Nate Gibson. They each threw three innings with Bovenzi striking out 6 and Gibson getting 7 on strikeouts.

Carlton advanced to the championship game after defeating the St. Mary’s-Vets team, 4-2, on Wednesday.
