Barr inducted into GCC Athletics Hall of Fame

Roy-Hart graduate Sara Barr was inducted into the Genesee Community College Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Barr, who was described as “one of the most versatile swimmers in GCC female history”, set seven individual and four relay records during her two years with the Cougars during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Known for her sprint freestyle and backstroke prowess she also set a school record in the 200 Individual Medley.

She excelled in postseason competition earning six top eight finishes at the National Junior College Athlete Association national championships including a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke in 2008.

The Cougars team captain, she was named Swimmer of the Meet at the 2008 Regionals and was the GCC Female Athlete of the Year in 2009.
