Barker High senior Mitchell Luckman will continue his basketball career at Alfred State this fall.
Luckman earned first team Niagara-Orleans All-League honors this past season as he helped lead Barker to an undefeated (14-0) league championship campaign.
Luckman is also a three-time N-O All-League golfer and a key member of two Barker league championship teams.
“Although Mitchell is a naturally gifted athlete that gets to the basket at will; it is his work ethic and competitive drive that separates him from others,” said Barker Coach Dave Carson. “Mitchell has spent countless hours during the off-season honing his skills just to put him one step ahead of the competition. Mitchell is an example of what it takes to be a successful leader. Nobody asked him to do it nor did he campaign for the position. His peers simply looked to him to lead. I am very proud of all that Mitchell has accomplished at Barker and I look forward to seeing him produce for Alfred State.”
“I’m excited about the fact that Mitchell comes from a successful program in Barker. What I like about Mitchell is that he can play the point and off guard positions,” said Alfred State Coach Jerry Jusianiec. “We expect big things from him as he can step in and contribute right away as a freshman.”
