Barker/Roy-Hart rallies late for win
Barker/Roy-Hart rallied for a touchdown in the final four minutes to edge past host Notre Dame of Batavia 14-12 this afternoon in a non league football game.
Trailing 12-6, Barker/Roy-Hart pulled out the win on a 3 yard touchdown run by Malik Smith and a two-point conversion run by Brandon-Lee Woods with 4:40 remaining.
A 20 yard pass completion from quarterback Eddie Wasnock to Tim Maines followed by a 36 yard run by Aaron Curry down to the Notre Dame 4 set up the deciding tally.
The Barker/Roy-Hart defense then preserved the victory as an interception by Jake Bruning stopped Notre Dame’s final drive.
Barker/Roy-Hart jumped out to a quick lead as Curry score on a 3 yard touchdown run just 2:21 into the opening quarter. A 36 yard run by Wasnock keyed that drive.
However, Notre Dame rallied to first knot the contest at 6-6 on a 45 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brendan Klotzbach to Ryan Moffatt with 2:04 remaining in the second quarter.
The Irish then grabbed a 12-6 lead on a touchdown run by Cam Clark in the third quarter.
The Barker/Roy-Hart defense was led by Nick Fazzolari with 10 tackles, Matt Laverty 9 tackles and a fumble recovery, Noah Rocklein 2 sacks and Matt Maines 1 sack.
Roy-Hart, which is now 1-1, next visits Albion on Friday for a B East Division game.
CG Finney 41, Holley 8
Host CG Finney built up leads of 21-0 at the half and 34-0 in the third quarter in route to posting a 41-8 non league win over Holley this afternoon.
Jeremy Mallett scored Holley’s lone touchdown on a 12 yard fumble recovery and Nick Schultz added the two-point conversion on a pass reception from Zach Day.
Now at 1-1, Holley next visits Alexander on Friday in a Genesee Region League game.
