Barker/Roy-Hart matmen edge past Medina

Wins in three of the final four bouts powered host BarkerRoy-Hart to a narrow 39-33 victory over Medina this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match.

Breaking away from a 27-27 deadlock, Barker/Roy-Hart combined a first period pin by Brent Bachman (132) in 1:30 with decision wins by TJ Alvord (126) and AJ Shaffer (145) to lock up the victory.

Barker/Roy-Hart also got off to a fast start jumping out to a 27-9 lead on pins by Tyler Choate (152) in :33, Nick Fazzolari (195) in 1:06 and Matt Steves (285) in 3:17 along with a decision win by Murphy Lang (160) and a forfeit.

However, Medina battled back into a 27-27 tie on pins by Travis Wiseman (99) in 4:49 and Colby Petrie (120) in 2:23 along with a forfeit win but the Mustangs could not gain the lead.

Barker/Roy-Hart is now 2-1 and Medina 0-3 in N-O competition.

Akron 62, Albion 12

A rash of forfeit wins keyed Akron (2-1) to a 62-12 win over Albion (1-2).

Ugene Harrison registered a pin for Albion as Preston Flugel and Tim Wells both had decision wins.
