Barker/R-H gridders best Mustang JVs

Barker/Roy-Hart scored a touchdown in each half to down Medina/Lyndonville 16-6 Saturday morning in a JV football game at Vets Park.
The Mustangs took a 6-0 first quarter lead as Zach Johnson connected on a 1 yard touchdown pass to William Braswell. The score was set up by a 26 yard pass from Johnson to Rickie Pitts followed by a 34 yard run by Bobby Geiger.
However, the Mustangs would stall out on offense twice more inside the 10 yard line throughout the game.
Barker/Roy-Hart rallied into an 8-6 lead on a 37 yard touchdown pass from Charlie Brigham to Charlie Bruning with 7 seconds to go in the first half. Brigham also passed to Chase Bohall for the two-point conversion.
Barker/Roy-Hart added a big insurances touchdown midway through the fourth quarter on a 2 yard TD run by Patrick Dwyer. Brigham passed to Walker Samanka for the two-point conversion.
For the Mustangs on the day, Johnson completed 10 of 19 passes for 132 yards and added 47 rushing yards. Pitts hauled in 5 passes for a total of 81 yards, while Braswell contributed 51 receiving yards and 48 rushing yards.
Defensively the Mustangs were led by Justice Hughes and Chase Prest with 9 tackles a piece. Blaire Prest also recovered a fumble.
The Mustangs next face Lackawanna at Vets Park on Saturday at 10 a.m.
