Barker trims Medina in N-O field hockey

Barker trimmed Medina 3-2 in a key Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at rainy Vets Park this evening.

Medina jumped out to a 1-0 first quarter lead on a goal by Sophia Goyette but Barker answered with a second period tally by Elizabeth Samson to knot the contest at 1-1 at the half.

Barker moved on top to stay with a pair of early third period goals by Madilyn Detschner and Ella Taylor to go up 3-1.

Medina answered with a goal by Penelope Schalck but could not net the equalizer.

Barker improves to 4-1 while Medina slips to 2-2.

Akron 9, Wilson 1
Defending champion Akron stayed undefeated at 6-0 with a 9-1 win over Wilson.

Ava Lombard scored 4 goals and Kenzie Tomporowski 2 for Akron which also got tallies from Averi Monkelbaan, Morgan Tomporowski and Julia Klodzinski. Madigan Regan added a pair of assists.

Medina’s Maggie Lonnen brings the ball up field for Medina as Faith Bowerman comes in to defend for Barker.

Wilson is now 2-4.
